StarFuse keeps the classic chess rules and adds a 10 × 8 board and a fusion system: pawns and other units merge with a stronger piece into new sci-fi units. A match takes roughly 45 minutes to two hours.

Fusions
Combine a higher piece with fusion material to create a stronger unit. Every fusion counts as one move.
Unit lines
Units are grouped into lines (rook, knight, bishop, king) that share a limit, so no single type can take over.
Familiar core
All standard pieces move as usual and pawns still promote, so chess players feel at home right away.
- Pick a higher piece: rook, knight, bishop, queen or king.
- Choose the fusion you want to perform.
- Make sure a pawn sits within one square of that piece.
- Fuse. The new unit appears where the higher piece stood.
